Program Overview

Food Service Assistants play an instrumental role within the food industry. Kitchen helpers, food service helpers and dishwashers, clear tables, clean kitchen areas, wash dishes, and perform various other activities to assist workers who prepare or serve food and beverages. They are employed by restaurants, cafés, hotels, fast food outlets, cafeterias, hospitals, and other establishments.

This program provides participants with the basic soft skills, technical skills and interpersonal skills that will lead them to a successful and meaningful life.

The graduates will be able to work with other team members to provide a quality food experience for customers.

Program Admission Requirements

Participant entry into the Food Service Assistant program requires applicant provide:

  • Grade 12 or Mature Student Status (19 years of age or more).
  • English Language Proficiency Assessment Test conducted by the College, scoring 60% or more

Note: Following are to be completed before program completion:

  • Food safe Level 1 certificate
  • Serving It Right certificate
  • WHMIS certificate
  • Super Host certificate
