I never imagined myself in the medical field—honestly, the sight of blood made me uneasy! But enrolling in the Medical Lab Assistant program at Western Community College turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
At first, I was nervous. The idea of working with needles and drawing blood seemed overwhelming, and I doubted whether I could do it. But the hands-on training at WCC gave me the confidence I needed. My instructors were incredibly supportive, offering one-on-one guidance that helped me improve my technique and overcome my fears. I remember my first time practicing on a classmate—I was terrified! But with practice, I gained the skills and precision required to excel.

Over eight months, we became a tight-knit group, supporting and motivating each other every step of the way. We celebrated our successes, helped each other through challenges, and built friendships that will last a lifetime.
WCC also made pursuing my education financially accessible, offering student loan options and flexible payment plans. Knowing I had both financial support and a strong academic foundation made my journey even smoother.
Today, I see myself confidently working in a hospital, applying the skills I’ve learned to make a real difference.
