Surrey, BC — On December 5, Western Community College (WCC) in Surrey’s Health & Technology District was proud to present a $5,000 donation to Surrey Urban Mission, an organization dedicated to providing essential services and support to vulnerable individuals in the Surrey community.
Surrey Urban Mission is renowned for its work in addressing food insecurity, offering shelter, and delivering outreach programs that empower those experiencing homelessness, poverty, and marginalization. The donation from WCC reflects its commitment to giving back to the community, fostering inclusion, and contributing to the well-being of Surrey’s residents.

“Western Community College is dedicated to supporting the communities we serve,” said Gurpal Dhaliwal, President of Western Community College. “This donation to Surrey Urban Mission aligns with our mission of building a better future through education and community collaboration. By contributing to such an impactful organization, we are ensuring that resources and care reach those who need it most.”

The donation highlights WCC’s broader community engagement strategy, which includes initiatives to support local organizations, empower underserved populations, and promote city-building efforts through education and outreach.

Surrey Urban Mission will utilize the donation to expand its programming and provide critical resources to families and individuals in need, further strengthening its ability to make a tangible impact in the community.
