At Western Community College, we are committed to supporting students in achieving their educational goals through accessible financial aid. Scholarships are offered to reward academic excellence, community engagement, and leadership skills while providing relief for financial hardships.
The SMT AMARJEET KAUR DHALIWAL Academic Scholarship is designed to honor and support students who exhibit exceptional academic achievement and actively engage in college activities. This scholarship may be applied towards tuition fees or awarded directly to the student in the form of a financial grant or reward.
Under this program, the college will award scholarships annually to support motivated and deserving students in financing their education.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for a scholarship at WCC, you must:
- Enrollment Status: The applicant must be currently enrolled at Western Community College (Bachelor students, with full-time status)
- Course Completion: The applicant must have earned at least 90 credits
- Academic Performance: A minimum GPA of 4.0 (90% or higher) is required.

College Involvement: The student must actively participate in college-sponsored events, clubs, or organizations.
Scholarship Application Requirements:
- Recommendation Letter: Submit at least two recommendation letters from a faculty member who has taught the applicant during their time at the college.
- Scholarship Application Form: Complete the scholarship application form, which can be accessed through the student’s portal.
- Personal Statement: The applicant must submit a personal statement (500-750words) detailing their academic accomplishments, involvement in college activities, and a compelling rationale for why they are deserving of the scholarship.
- Pass the Interview: Students will undergo interview from the Director of Student Services
Scholarship Award:
To qualify for a scholarship at WCC, you must:

Tuition Fee Payment: The scholarship amount may be applied directly to the recipient’s outstanding tuition fees.
- Cheque Award: Alternatively, the scholarship may be issued as a cheque payable to the student (if student has fullypaid their last term tuition fees)
Terms and Conditions:
- Misrepresentation: Any misrepresentation or falsification of information in the application will result in disqualification and may lead to disciplinary action.
- Maintaining Eligibility: Recipients must continue to meet the eligibility criteria throughout the duration of the scholarship.
- Code of Conduct: Students found in violation of the College’s Code of Conduct and who have received a written warning will lose eligibility for the scholarship.
- The scholarship can only be applied once, and should not be combined with any other promotion at WCC
- Amount of Scholarship Grant: The scholarship grant amount will be determined at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
- Final Decision: Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee scholarship award. The final decision on eligibility and award rests solely with the scholarship committee.

Scholarship Program for Surrey High School Students
Western Community College (WCC) is committed to supporting the educational aspirations of high school students in Surrey. The WCC Scholarship Program aims to provide financial assistance and recognition to outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community engagement, and a passion for their chosen field of study.
Students selected as conditional recipients of the WCC Entrance scholarship must meet the following requirements by August 31 of their graduating year to be confirmed as a recipient and receive their scholarship voucher.
Scholarship Benefits
Tuition Scholarships – Fixed monetary award ($5,000 each for a total of $100,000).
