With our new season due to start soon, at Western Community College we are excited to inform you about our Pharmacy Assistant Program. This is a new healthcare program at Western Community College that we feel offers students some huge opportunities to work in the health care sector.
For those who are interested in working in a pharmacy or a hospital, this is a very good course to enroll in, as it teaches numerous skills that are also transferable to other areas in the health care sector, or different industries such as customer service. When completed, those with the Pharmacy Assistant Program qualification can seek out employment in community and independent pharmacies, hospitals, and pharmacy distribution companies, and can earn a +$40,000 salary!
The requirements for the Pharmacy Assistant Program are as follows: The applicant must be at least 19 years of age or have completed Grade 12, and have completed at least Grade 10 math, pass the English Language Assessment Test, and international students must have 5.5 bands or more in the IELTS test. At Western Community College, we also offer IELTS preparation courses, if you would like to consider those as an international student, before applying for the Pharmacy Assistant Program.
Like many of our courses at Western Community College, the Pharmacy Assistant Program is available to be taken as a part-time or full-time course. Both are 760 hours in total, and the full time Pharmacy Assistant Program lasts 7 months, while the part time Pharmacy Assistant Program lasts 11 months.
Along with customer service skills, the student will gain skills in computers and IT, bookkeeping, pharmaceutical practice, and medical terminology. They will also engage in a practicum toward the end of the Pharmacy Assistant Program.
For anybody looking to work in the health care industry, in a role that is quite varied, the Pharmacy Assistant Program may be for you. This course can land you in roles that are customer-facing, working with lots of people, or more administration based, taking care of bookkeeping and files.
