Program Overview

The Certified IT Technician program fulfills the need for trained entry-level network Technicians. Computer network technicians establish, operate, maintain and co-ordinate the use of local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs), mainframe networks, hardware, software, and related computer equipment. They set up and maintain enterprise-level internet and intranet web sites, and server hardware and software, as well as monitor and optimize network connectivity and performance.

The Certified IT Technician program prepares students to learn the fundamentals of information technology (IT) with an emphasis on a hands-on approach to installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing computer networking systems and equipment. Once students complete the program, they will be able to launch a career in technical support, in the growing fields of Internet, intranet, extranet, and telecom networks.
