Western Community College is proud to celebrate a significant milestone in our institution’s research journey: a book chapter co-authored by two of our faculty members has been officially selected for publication by the Editorial Office of ISTE–Wiley Publications.
The chapter, co-authored by Dr. Urooj S. Malik, PhD and Dr. Amit Kohli, is titled “Digital Transformation and Strategic Decoupling in Corporate Sustainability: A Triangulation Framework Applied to Leading Global Corporations.” It will appear in a forthcoming volume of the prestigious ISTE–Wiley Book Series, a well-respected outlet for scholarly work in business, technology, and sustainability research.
What the Research Explores
The chapter tackles a question that sits at the heart of modern corporate accountability: the gap between what companies promise on sustainability and what they actually deliver in their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. Dr. Malik and Dr. Kohli developed a mixed-method triangulation framework to measure this “strategic decoupling,” drawing on data from eight major global corporations, including three Canadian firms.
By combining multiple research methods to cross-validate their findings, the authors offer a rigorous way to assess whether corporate sustainability commitments translate into measurable action, a topic of growing importance to investors, regulators, and the public alike.
