Breathing, Moving, and Reconnecting: WCC Celebrates the International Day of Yoga

Sometimes, the most meaningful thing we can do for our community is simply invite everyone to pause.

In celebration of the International Day of Yoga, Western Community College hosted two yoga sessions at our Abbotsford campus — bringing students and staff together to focus on something that often gets pushed aside in busy academic and professional lives: health, wellness, and mindfulness.

A Welcome Pause

Between classes, assignments, meetings, and deadlines, it’s easy to forget the importance of taking care of ourselves. These sessions offered exactly the kind of reset our community needed — a moment to breathe, move intentionally, and reconnect with both mind and body.

Participants had the opportunity to step away from their routines and engage in guided yoga practice that supported their overall well-being, not just for the day, but as a reminder of the importance of building wellness into everyday life.

Led from Within Our Community

What made these sessions especially meaningful was that the guidance came from one of our own. The sessions were led by Baljeet Kaur, a WCC Office Admin Assistant and Certified Yoga Trainer, whose expertise and warmth made the experience welcoming for participants of all experience levels.

Having a WCC team member lead these sessions is a reflection of something we deeply believe at Western Community College: that the talent, passion, and care within our community is one of our greatest strengths.

Wellness as a Commitment, Not a One-Time Event

WCC is committed to creating an environment where students and staff can thrive — not just academically and professionally, but as whole people. Events like these are part of a broader commitment to building a healthier, more connected campus community.

We look forward to continuing to create initiatives that support wellness, belonging, and balance at WCC.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made these sessions such a positive experience:
