Western Community College invites applications from eligible candidates for Library Technician Position for its Library in the Surrey Campus. 

Job Position: Library Technician 

The Library Technician will assist users in accessing library resources, assist in describing new acquisitions, participate in processing materials, and conduct reference searches. 

You are expected to perform/fulfill some or all the following duties: 

  • Assist library users in accessing books, films, photographs, maps, documents, electronic materials and other library materials 
  • Catalogue new library acquisitions under the direction of a librarian 
  • Perform manual and on-line reference searches and make interlibrary loans for users 
  • Assist librarians in giving tours and providing children’s and other specialized library programs. 
  • Ability to use tact and discretion with a variety of people and situations and work in a team environment. 
  • Ability to Communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Keyboarding skills, understanding of computer concepts and terminology, and experience with word processing software and file management systems. 
  • Experience accurately creating and editing online records. 

Required Qualification and Experience 

  • Completion of a two-year Library Technician diploma 
  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a library is preferred 

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent 

Salary: $25.00-$28.00 per hour 

Expected hours: 40 per week 

Benefits: Extended health care 

Flexible Language Requirement: 

French not required 

Schedule: 8 hour shift
