This past Friday, WCC welcomed more than 70 students during our Fall 2026 Orientation, marking the start of an exciting journey for the newest cohort in our Bachelor of Hospitality Management program. New faces, new connections, and a full morning of introductions set the tone for what’s ahead.
Meeting Classmates and the WCC Community
It was a great morning for students to meet their classmates, connect with the WCC leadership team, and learn more about the departments, procedures, and resources that will support them throughout their studies. For many, orientation is the first real chance to put faces to names, ask questions in person, and start to feel like part of the WCC community rather than just a new student on a roster.
A Program Built for the Real World of Hospitality
Our Bachelor of Hospitality Management program is designed to prepare students for the fast-paced, people-first world of hospitality, and that focus on real-world readiness starts on day one. Throughout the program, students learn from faculty who bring genuine industry and research experience into the classroom, work through case studies grounded in the financial and operational decisions hotel and hospitality leaders are making right now, and hear directly from industry professionals through guest speaker sessions on topics like financial literacy and risk management.
Practicum placements and employer partnerships, like the ones WCC has built with organizations in the hospitality and food service industry, give students the chance to turn classroom learning into hands-on experience, and in many cases, into job offers before they even graduate. It’s this combination of applied learning, mentorship, and industry connection that shapes graduates who are ready to step into hospitality careers with confidence.
Icebreakers and Fun
We also made time for some fun, with group activities, a quiz, and prizes to help everyone get to know each other and feel more comfortable on their first day. Orientation isn’t just about paperwork and policies. It’s about building the kind of relationships between classmates and faculty that make the next few years feel a little less like starting over and a little more like coming home.
